Ingredients
- 1 lb. Round Tip Beef
- 3 tbsp. Low Sodium Tamari or Soy Sauce
- 1 Bag of Broccoli Florets
- 3 tbsp. Cornstarch
- 1 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1/8 tsp. Dark Soy Sauce
- 2 tsp. Chicken Bouillon
- 2 cups and 2 tbsp. Boiled Water
- 1 tbsp. Mirin
- 2 tbsp. Brown Sugar
- 1/4 cup Shaoxing Wine
- 2 tbsp. Garlic, minced
- 2 tsp. Ginger, minced
- 1/2 tbsp. White Pepper
- 4 stalks of Green Onions
Instructions
I bought pre cut beef, but if it's not, cut your beef into thin slices. Be sure to cut against the way the fat is running.
Next, place the meeting into a large mixing bowl and add in 1 tbsp. of garlic, 1 tbsp. soy sauce, 2 tbsp. cornstarch, and baking soda. Mix so the meat is coated evenly. Set aside.
On a clean cutting board, chop the green onions and set aside. If you have broccoli heads, this would be the time to cut them into smaller floret sizes. Set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl, mix the bouillon and 2 cups of hot water together until the powder or cube has dissolved. Now add in 2 tbsp. tamari (soy sauce), 1 tsp. of the ginger, white pepper, brown sugar, shaoxing wine, and mirin. Set aside.
Now in a large wok on medium-high heat, add olive oil and sauté the marinated beef. Allow the beef to get a crust on the outside, but be sure to mix frequently to prevent it from burning.
When the beef is almost fully cooked, remove it from the pan and set aside. Next, into the wok add the broccoli florets and remaining ginger and garlic. Give it a quick sauté for about 2-3 minutes.
Pour in the sauce that was set aside and mix, allowing the broth to deglaze the wok. Add the beef back in, and allow it to cook until the broth starts to boil. While waiting, make a slurry by combining 1 tbsp. cornstarch with 2 tbsp. of water.
Once the broth is boiling, turn it down to low heat and add in the slurry mixture. Constantly stir to avoid clumping. When the sauce has thickened, turn off the stove.
Serve immediately with rice and enjoy!
